Looking north towards a mass of NLC on the night of13/14 July 2006 with Capela in Auriga showing well.

Although not as strong as the 13th, 15/16 July proved quite lively.

18/19th July also showed well, even with a lot of low cloud around.

The 29/30th proved to be my last NLC sighting this season but still looked spectacular.Part of Ursa Major(The Great Bear) is showing above.

My first aurora of the 2006 season. After the meeting on the 1st September 06, several members of Morays Astronomy Club headed up to our observing site at Easterton Airfield. We were rewarded with a magnificent night, including this weak aurora. Despite the glow of Elgins street lights, it managed to battle through. .

I managed to catch an Iridium Flare, level minus 8, on the 2nd September 2006. The constellations of Persius and Andromeda show well, with the Andromeda galaxy at top right.

The aurora struck again on the night of 23/24 September. Fortunatly I was down at our observing site, while my home base was completeley fogged out. This photo is the combination of a coronal hole, and my new digital camera, a Canon Power Shot A540. Settings were 15secs at 2.8 400ISO.

The aurora struck again on the night of 14/15 October. I was down at our observing site just south of Elgin. The display lasted 30 minutes with the spectacular bits towards the end. This photo is the combination of a coronal hole and my Canon Power Shot A540. Settings were 15secs at 2.8 400ISO.
